Before installing on your Windows

Make sure your system is ready for a smooth experience.

Minimum specs

  • Windows 7 SP1 or newer
  • Dual-core CPU @ 2.0 GHz.
  • 4 GB RAM.
  • 5 GB free storage space for the full client and patches.
  • Broadband internet connection (3 Mbps+).

Recommended

  • Windows 10/11.
  • Quad-core CPU @ 3.0 GHz.
  • 8 GB RAM or higher.
  • SSD storage with 10 GB free for faster patching.
  • Wired internet for the most stable downloads.

Have an older machine? You can still play—lowering in-game graphics will keep things running smoothly.

Installation guide

Follow these steps to install RagnaPH cleanly and get playing fast.

  1. Extract the downloaded archive (ZIP/RAR). We recommend 7-Zip. Right-click the archive → 7-Zip → Extract Here (or Extract to RagnaPH\), then wait for extraction to finish.

  2. Run the installer. Open the extracted folder and double-click RagnaPHSetup.exe.
  3. Step 1: Select Destination Location. Choose where to install (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\RagnaPH) then click Next.

  4. Step 2: Select Start Menu Folder. Keep the default name (RagnaPH) or change it, then click Next.

    Confirm the Start Menu folder.
  5. Step 3: Ready to Install. Review the summary (Destination + Start Menu). If everything looks correct, click Install.

    Verify settings, then proceed with installation.
  6. Step 4: Completing the Setup Wizard. When finished, you can tick Launch RagnaPH to start immediately, then click Finish.

    Installation complete—launch directly from here if you like.
  7. Launch & patch. If you didn’t launch from the wizard, run RagnaPH from the Start Menu / desktop shortcut. Let the launcher finish downloading updates until the Launch button is available.
  8. Create your game account. If you haven’t signed up yet, click Create Account in the navigation or visit our signup page.
  9. Configure with OpenSetup & Play. In your game folder, run OpenSetup.exe first. Set your Renderer (Direct3D/OpenGL), Resolution, and Fullscreen/Windowed mode, then click Apply/OK. After saving, open the RagnaPH Launcher and click Play to start the game.
    Tip: If settings don’t stick, run OpenSetup.exe as Administrator, then re-open it to confirm your choices.

Operating system tips

A few quick notes to make installation seamless on every platform.

Windows

  • Run OpenSetup first. In your game folder, open OpenSetup.exe and set your Renderer (try Direct3D first, switch to OpenGL if you see a black screen), Resolution, and Fullscreen/Windowed. Click OK to save.
  • If settings don’t stick: Right-click OpenSetup.exeRun as administrator, re-apply your choices, then re-open to confirm.
  • Missing runtime? Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x86). If the launcher/client won’t start, this usually fixes it.
  • Permissions: If you encounter errors, run the launcher as admin and add the game folder to your antivirus allow-list.

Antivirus false positive? Restore & allow the game

Some antivirus tools may flag our launcher/anti-cheat as suspicious due to how patching and protection work. These are false positives.

Why this happens: our launcher and anti-cheat use packers/hardening and update frequently—patterns that some AV engines mistake for malware behavior. We don’t ship adware, miners, or trojans.

Files you should allow

  • RagnaPH Launcher.exe (patcher)
  • RagnaPH.exe (game client)
  • OpenSetup.exe (graphics/audio setup)
  • SafePlay.exe and sp.dll (anti-cheat/loader)
  • Entire game folder (recommended): C:\Games\RagnaPH\ or your chosen install path

Restore quarantined files (Windows Security)

  1. Open Windows SecurityVirus & threat protection.
  2. Click Protection history and look for the blocked/quarantined item.
  3. Select it → choose Allow on device (or Restore if shown).
  4. Re-open the launcher. If a file is still missing, re-patch (the launcher will re-download it).

Add an exclusion (Windows Security)

  1. Windows SecurityVirus & threat protectionManage settings (under “Virus & threat protection settings”).
  2. Scroll to ExclusionsAdd or remove exclusionsAdd an exclusion → choose Folder.
  3. Select your game folder (e.g., C:\Games\RagnaPH).

Other antivirus (Avast, AVG, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, etc.)

  1. Open your AV → find Quarantine/Threat history → select the blocked file.
  2. Choose Restore and/or Allow/Trust the file.
  3. Add an Exception/Exclusion for your entire game folder and the files listed above.
  4. Re-open the launcher to verify the patch completes and the Play button activates.

Names of menus differ by product, but the flow is the same: Restore from quarantine → Add exception → Re-patch.

TL;DR: If your AV removed a file, restore it and add the entire RagnaPH folder as an exclusion. These detections are false positives.

  • Black screen or instant crash after “Play”? Close the game, run OpenSetup.exe, and switch Renderer (Direct3D ↔ OpenGL). Lower the resolution and disable fullscreen. Click OK, then relaunch.
  • No sound or wrong audio device? Open OpenSetup.exe, choose the correct Audio device, and press OK. Also check the Windows Volume Mixer.
  • Stuck on patching? Ensure your firewall allows RagnaPH Launcher. Pause other downloads and try again.
  • Files seem corrupted? Close the launcher, delete rph.dat in the game folder, then re-open the launcher and let it re-check/patch.
  • “Threat blocked” or files keep disappearing? Your antivirus likely quarantined the launcher/anti-cheat. See Antivirus false positive? Restore & allow the game for restore/exclusion steps.
